Structure determination from nuclear Overhauser effect
(Bililign; Gdanitz)

This research includes two projects with Mufeed Basti (A&T, physical chemist) and two graduate students. Both cases involve the structure determination from Nuclear Overhauser Effect constraints obtained from Nuclear Magnetic Resonance measurements. The first molecule, 1-[2-[bis(4-fluorophenyl)methoxy]ethyl]-4-(3-phenylpropyl)piperazine, is a drug that showed promising results in the treatment of cocaine addiction. The second molecule is an RNA consisting of three guanidine and three pentose groups. Later, the reaction of the latter RNA with mercury will be studied.
